ESSENCES
Essences is a film that almost doesn’t move. The idea behind the project was to treat each shot like a photograph: a fixed frame, the bottles set in a raw landscape, and time passing only through small details.
Light slides across the sand, a grain lifts in the wind, a shadow slowly turns. The bottles feel as if they had always been there, long before the camera arrived and long after it leaves. Around them, time moves slowly, almost too slowly to notice. The result sits close to a series of still lifes, with just enough motion to remind the viewer that it is a film.
